Andrew Butler
Andy Butler has 15 years’ experience as a children’s nurse, following three years training when he achieved a Diploma in Nursing specialising in child health. He is a fully registered Nurse in Children’s Nursing.
Following his training Andy has six years’ experience in general paediatric nursing care at District General Hospital. The past four years have been spent as Ward Manager. Andy has enhanced his expertise by spending time at Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital. He has gained experience in a number of specialities including one year in Paediatric Cardio Respiratory Nursing and eight years in Paediatric Intensive Care.
Andy sees ventilation therapy, care of the child with a tracheostomy and high dependency nursing care in children as his areas of expertise. He regularly participates in audits for child health to improve service and develop better practice.
Andy sees the implementation of new non-invasive ventilation equipment at LTHTR which keeps child health up to date with current practices as a key achievement in his career to date. He prides himself on always trying to improve quality care in child health, by having zero tolerance for sub-standard care.
