Katie’s role at PSP as a Clinical Nursing Educator involves the preparation and delivery of training courses to families, carers, fellow healthcare professionals and businesses.
Following this, Katie moved to the Accident and Emergency Department as a Junior Sister. In 2018, she was appointed Practice Educator for the Emergency Department, where she was responsible for delivering a wide range of staff training, including life support courses. The role also involved designing and facilitating multidisciplinary simulation sessions with medical colleagues, enabling staff to build confidence in managing a variety of clinical scenarios within a safe and controlled learning environment.
In 2022, Katie was seconded to the Resuscitation Team, delivering Immediate Life Support (ILS) and Paediatric Immediate Life Support (PILS) training. She subsequently completed the Advanced Paediatric Life Support (APLS) course and was nominated to become an instructor, Katie has been a full APLS instructor since 2024.
In Summer 2024, Katie joined PSP as Lead Nurse. In this role, she coordinates all training and education programmes and ensures that learning materials remain current, evidence-based, and aligned with best practice. As a member of the senior management team, Katie also leads on governance and policy development.
Alongside her leadership role, Katie continues to work clinically in both clinic and theatre settings, where she acts as a resuscitation lead.
