Twelve months ago, PSP Clinical Director Pete Sanderson’s family received news that would change their lives forever: his daughter, Ida, had been diagnosed with stage 4 cancer.
Since then, Ida has faced more than any young adult should ever have to. Treatment, hospital appointments, long hospital admissions, uncertainty and fear have become part of daily life. Through it all, she has shown remarkable courage, strength and spirit.
During what Pete describes as the hardest year of Ida’s life, two charities have provided invaluable support to Ida and their family: Teenage Cancer Trust and Little Lady Locks.
Supporting young people through cancer
Teenage Cancer Trust supports young people with cancer, helping them receive specialist care and support throughout their treatment journey.
Little Lady Locks provides wigs and hair-loss support for children and young people, helping them feel more like themselves during an incredibly difficult time.
These organisations have played an important role in supporting Ida and her family over the past year, which is why Pete has chosen to raise funds for both charities.
Taking on 100 kilometres
On Saturday 5 September, Pete will take on a 100km ultra marathon to raise awareness and funds for Teenage Cancer Trust and Little Lady Locks.
Pete is running:
- For Ida
- For every young person facing cancer
- For the charities that help families through the unimaginable
The funds raised will be split equally between the two charities, helping them continue their vital work supporting children, young people and families affected by cancer.
